I fell in love with watercolor way back in 1999!  I went from just not liking it to loving it after my first picture.

In my class you are introduced to watercolor and the many tips and tricks to lead you through a successful painting.

I provide all products necessary for your first two pictures. After first two pictures you choose what you want to paint.

Of course coffee, tea and a snack is always there to enjoy too! Come and enjoy!

From beginner to advanced student, Helma’s insight and expertise will guide you to successful painting projects. Whether your choice is oil or acrylic, you will see the progress in your work as you learn how to work with the medium of your choice. You will learn composition, color mixing, application, and all the information you need to enjoy painting. Each student works on their own projects, and because classes are limited to only 6 students per session, Helma is able to give each student plenty of individual attention.

Start your creative journey, join a class, meet new friends, and enjoy yourself!

For painters who want to take the next step.

These are open-studio sessions intended for artists who want to achieve a better understanding of oil paints and investigate how they will serve in developing their own,  individual painting style.   Bring your paintings and we will start from there; be prepared for in-depth discussions on where you want to go with your work and to have brush in hand as we explore.

Learning will be centered around what makes a painting stand out; what draws the viewer's eye from across a room.   We will discuss how master painters over the centuries have achieved this by various, subtle techniques.  Most important, we will investigate how those techniques are adaptable to modern, easily-obtainable materials.

While not a strict prerequisite, experience in either oil or acrylic painting will be useful.  Sessions are limited to three attendees.
