Bertil Whyman

Bertil Whyman is a self taught artist who has been painting and exhibiting his art since the early 1980’s. His subjects are primarily marine and landscape. He has had twenty one-man shows and has been a part of many juried group shows with prestigious galleries and museums in Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, Georgia, Florida, and the Bahamas. His paintings are in many private and corporate collections in the US, England, and Germany.

Bertil’s paintings employ a variety of techniques from tonal underpainting to all-prima strokes, to impressionism and broken color shapes of close hues. He has been influenced by the work of Sargent, Manet, Wm. Chase, W. Metcalf, F. Mulhaupt, and Edgar Payne, to name a few.

Beril moved to Washington from Maine to be closer to his family. He is sure he will find plenty of subject matter in the years ahead.
